Hamburg, September 2020 – The Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe has confirmed the patent for the Electric Power Pack (short E-PP) from Hamburg based engineering office E-MS at the highest level.
Some background information: The E-PP enables high-precision control of the required electrical energy even in the event of highly fluctuating performance requirements, such as those on board of river cruise vessels, large yachts and research vessels. The patent was originally applied in 2007 and installed for the first time in 2009 on the diesel-electric river cruise ship “Viking Legend”. In addition to the significantly lower fuel consumption compared to conventional diesel-electric drives, the system impresses with large space and weight advantages compared to conventional installations and ensures a significantly reduced noise level on board of ships.
“We are very pleased about the confirmation of the patent”, says Peter Andersen, Managing Director of E-MS GmbH. “This means that the E-PP patent continues to have its unrestricted effect and remains one of the most important milestones in our 15-year success story.”
